Dr. Shuang Hao announced as inaugural recipient of the NRI Zoghbi Scholar Award

The Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute (NRI) at Texas Children’s Hospital is proud to announce the winner of the new NRI Zoghbi Scholar Award. Dr. Shuang Hao, currently a postdoctoral associate in Dr. Jianrong Tang's laboratory, was selected by a faculty committee to be the inaugural recipient of this award. Her research focuses on the effect of deep brain stimulation on motor deficits in mouse models of Angelman syndrome.

This NRI Zoghbi Scholar Award was established by Dr. Huda Zoghbi, director of the NRI, to honor the many generations of trainees from her laboratory who have made important contributions to research. The purpose of this award is to foster the success of the next generation of trainees in biomedical research and help them establish independent research programs.

One scholar per year will be selected from senior postdoctoral fellows at the NRI who anticipate applying for independent research positions within a year of receiving the award. The scholars will be awarded $50,000 to pursue innovative projects that will form the foundation of their independent research programs.
